Jason Simon

Executive Director

Jason Simon is the Executive Director of the Evangelical Catholic, a national ministry that trains Catholic leaders for evangelization. He holds a Masters of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame and has over fifteen years of experience working in parish and campus ministry. Since joining the Evangelical Catholic he has worked closely with staff and student leaders from over 50 higher education institutions, helping them to become more fruitful in evangelization on their campuses. Jason advises and equips Catholic campus ministry leaders at 32 universities. He also oversees the Evangelical Catholic’s quickly expanding parish initiative. In 2011 he was elected to serve as the Vice-Chair on the Catholic Campus Ministry Association’s Executive Board. He lives in Madison, Wisconsin with his wife and five children.

James Carrano served as a campus minister at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a decade before joining the Evangelical Catholic. With expertise in small group outreach and discipleship development, he has assisted parishes and campus ministries nationwide to launch vibrant, fruitful and self-sustaining evangelistic ministries. James has directed and preached hundreds of retreats and conferences for college students and parishioners. He holds a Master’s in Music and a BA from the University of Wisconsin, and lives in Wisconsin with his wife, Jessica, and their five children.

Director of Campus Ministry

Faye earned her B.A.s in English and History from the University of Oregon. She left her first career in trade book publishing in New York City to earn a Master’s of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School. She was involved in bringing the Evangelical Catholic to the University of Wisconsin Catholic Student Center when she was Woman Chaplain there from 1995 to 2005. Faye returned to Harvard to serve as Undergraduate Chaplain at the Harvard Catholic Student Center, and imported EC ministries. She started working for the EC in 2008 after seeing how well our methods served Harvard undergraduates. Says Faye: “If EC small groups can work at UW-Madison and at Harvard, they can work anywhere!”

Director of Diocesan and Parish Outreach

Peter received a Masters of Theological Studies in Pastoral Theology from Ave Maria University in 2008. He has worked for the Church in adult ministry since 2004, and has also worked in young adult ministry and youth ministry. He joined the EC in 2011 as Director of Parish Evangelization, and he currently advises 5 EC alliance parishes in Wisconsin as well as the Archdiocese of Kansas City. He lives in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin with his wife and four children.

Grace Simon

Grace Simon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame. In campus ministry since 1999 she spear-headed the creation of Alpha-Omega, a weekly large group at the University of Wisconsin Catholic Student Center that received a best-program award from the Catholic Campus Ministry Association and has run continuously since it was founded in 1999. Active with the Evangelical Catholic since its founding, she has trained hundreds of campus ministers and parish staff for Catholic evangelization and leadership. With expertise in small group discussion facilitation and one-on-one discipleship mentoring, she is the primary author of three EC books and continues to develop EC resources. She also works with Catholic leaders at EC alliances and affiliates, equipping them to be fruitful in evangelization.

Mark was introduced to the Evangelical Catholic back in 2004 during his undergraduate studies and became involved in campus ministry efforts at UW-Madison using extensive EC methods. After completing a Bachelor’s Degree of Philosophy in 2006, he worked in sales and management but felt the call back to ministry. He worked for an evangelization team called Spiritus before moving back to Madison and joining the EC as a Ministry Associate last June. He is excited to be back in Madison and thoroughly enjoys the city while working with college students.

Before joining the Evangelical Catholic in 2013, Nicole worked on staff for two years with St. Paul’s University Catholic Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Serving in campus ministry as a UW student and as an intern, as well as serving on Camp Gray Catholic Camp’s summer staff in 2011, led Nicole to pursue ministry full-time. Nicole lives and works with her husband Cody in Raleigh, NC, supporting the EC’s campus alliance with North Carolina State University.

Claire graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in May 2012 with a B.A. in history and anthropology. After working with the Evangelical Catholic in different capacities as an undergraduate student, she signed on for two years with the campus ministry training program. She is now in her second, and final year as a missionary in Madison. Her time with the Evangelical Catholic has helped her discern a lifelong call to ministry and she hopes to enter graduate school next fall to study for a Masters in Divinity.

In May 2013, Erika earned her BS in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University. During her time at university, she served in her Catholic Campus Ministry as a student leader and witnessed the beginning of her ministry’s transformation when the Evangelical Catholic established an alliance there her junior year. During this first year of training, Erika is eager to dive into ministry with the students and staff at UW Madison.

Briana graduated in May 2013 from Iowa State University with a BS in Materials Engineering. She began to seek out her faith in college and got involved in small groups, where she was able to grow deeper in her faith. In her first year of training, she hopes to learn how to reach out to students and help them grow deeper in their faith.

Megan received a BS in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. During her undergraduate career she had the privilege of being involved with the EC in many different facets including being on the Alpha Omega (St. Paul’s University Catholic Center’s large group event) Vision Team and living in the EC house on Mifflin street doing outreach on one of UW’s most prominent party streets. Megan is excited to be working at her alma mater, which provides an opportunity to continue building relationships with the students and staff here, form new relationships, and bringing students into the campus ministry that impacted her life in so many ways.

Katelin Cummins became interested in the EC after experiencing difficulty in getting Catholics on her college campus to gather together for faith-based community. Through EC training, she began leading more effective small groups, finding and forming authentic Catholic Christian community. She began working for the EC in December 2007.
